Michael Lin …

That’s all there is to say about the final three tables of the 2017 WPTDeepStacks Turlock Poker Room Main Event. Lin began chipping up fast, eliminating players, running over table after table and by the time it was down to 6 players, Lin had more than 60 percent of all the chips in play.

Gonzalez Takes Turlock Championship Series Title

Rafael Gonzalez became a force in the 2016 Turlock Poker Room Championship Series $75,000 Guaranteed Main Event when he came from behind against Aram Alexander 88 v 99 and he turned an 8 for the knockout and a top-3 stack with 18 players remaining.

Gonzalez remained solid throughout the final table, going in to heads-up play with about a 1.2 million chip deficit to Rick Peterson. The two friends agreed to take $20,000 each and play heads-up for the remaining $3,144 in the prize pool and the Championship Trophy.

The lead went back and forth a few times, with Peterson and Gonzalez turning trips on one hand and Peterson getting a boat on the river. Gonzalez came out on top in the end, with Peterson taking second-place honors.

The two players end up 7th and 8th overall in the Player of the Series race as well, with Peterson one place higher than Gonzalez.

Tada Wins WPTDeepStacks Turlock Title

Surrounded by friends all chanting his nickname ‘CuCu, CuCu,’ Steven Tada took center stage Sunday night as he captured the 2016 WPTDeepStacks Main Event at Turlock Poker Room.

Tada, a Bay Area poker player who makes it to many of the big NorCal events from San Jose to Sacramento and more, joined a large group of players who came to Turlock looking for a WPTDS title. That flock of Bay Area players helped push the prize pool to an all-time Turlock record $201,760 for the $1100 buyin Main Event.

One of the top stacks for much of day 2, and with the defending champion – his own sister – on his rail throughout – Tou Xiong took down the 2015 Players Championship Series Main Event last weekend at Turlock Poker Room in central California.

The 253-entry main event field – with a $122,705 prize pool – took on a family-reunion feel to it as Xiong had his sister Mai – the 2014 PCS Main Event winner – his wife, his mother, brothers, sisters and more, 9 family in all on his rail as he worked his way patiently through the field to take down the $34,257 first prize.
